Alien 3 is a side-scrolling platform shooter based on the 1992 Sci-Fi blockbuster movie of the same name. The game was initially released for the Sega Genesis and the Amiga in 1992 and 1 year later it was developed for the Commodore 64, Game Boy, Game Gear, Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and Master System.

Alien IIISTORY / GAMEPLAY
The main hero of the game is the beautiful and redneck Lt Ellen Ripley (played in the movie by Sigourney Weaver). Ripley wakes up after being forced into cryo-sleep, at a scientific base situated in Sulaco. Two alien monsters have stowed away, so the nightmare is still on. Lt Ripley must fight her way to destroy the menacing breed once and for all and save the humans that are kept hostages by the Aliens for experimental purposes. You, as Ripley, must find and free the hostages and also conserve your ammunition since there will be many times where you'll be left with no bullets at all (an issue that will make things even tougher). The control of your character is quite good, though a bit odd when you try to land after jumping.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The SNES version -created one year after the Megadrive's- is quite different. You can enter doors to proceed in other platforms and you choose the mission you want through a terminal. The SNES version is superior compared to all other platforms. It offers a fantastic intro showing how the story begins, playing a music theme taken from the movie. It features great graphics, with more than 100 colors on screen, great sound FX (just listen to the Aliens scream when you kill them) and a great in-game music with multiple channels. Alien 3 is one of the best (and the toughest) action adventure games for the Nintendo SNES.

Nice game. I 've played it at a friends SNES. I liked the intro! Excellent in game music and sound effects. Very nice graphics but lacked in framerate here and there.
